Take time out to deeply relax your body and mind as Susan guides you through a meditation (yoga nidra, a technique she studied with Yoga Masters in India and in California with Dr. Richard Miller) and teaches you simple and easy to learn meditations some as short as 1-3 minutes in length. Canadian Style of Play - Newest Concepts - Basketball | Mark Hogan | Canadian Style of Play (CSP) began to evolve after the 2012 London Olympics. Just 3 years later Canada's Senior Women's National Team won the Pan AM games and FIBA Americas. How did they do this? In 2017 Canada won their first-ever world championship, medalled in others and won back-to-back FIBA Americas Championship. Canada's success has been nothing short of amazing! Jus like story telling, the values of the culture can be infused into the games skill development. Physical and mental skills needed for the survival were dependent upon early childhood development of neural connection of the brain. Basic coordination for adult tasks was set out before twelve years old. |

Large Group Games for Elementary School Phys Ed | Emily Ford, Laura Boudens | After attending our session you will walk away with two large group games that provide an environment for students to have fun, be active and learn fundamental movement skills. Squirrel Tag and Quidditch are two crowd pleasing games in our physical education program. Students are taken into a magical forest to play a game of Squirrel Tag and a world of Harry Potter while participating in Quidditch. Applying fundamental movement skills of running, jumping, throwing as well as invasion strategies are a focus in both of these active games. Find out how to register and implement an Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Youth Run Club or GO! Run Club at your school or throughout your district. These free, fun, and flexible programs provide Alberta schools with resources and supports needed to start up this physical activity initiative, or enhance an existing one.
